6061 T6 ALUMINUM
6061 aluminum is a very versatile metal that makes extrusion and machining easier. It has very good anti-corrosion properties and especially for road racing it is not a very brittle metal which is good for combating stress fatigue. It is a beautiful metal that anodes and polishes well, which allowed us to achieve that really expensive look on this frame. T6 - means that the 3PF frame has been solution heat treated and then artificially aged. This tempering process significantly increases the hardness of the metal. The extrusion must be held in a special jig while it is quenched to prevent it from twisting.
