GRANTURISMO SLR
Granturismo SLR is the racing bike designed to maximize the relationship between performance and comfort. With Granturismo SLR you can cover many kilometers while minimizing posture stress thanks to special endurance geometries and the ACTIFLEX 2.0 system, a reworked version of the rear micro-shock developed in 2017 for Cento10 NDR.
ACTIFLEX 2.0
At the heart of the Granturismo SLR is the Actiflex 2.0 vibration damping system which allows the rear wheel to have up to 5 mm of vertical travel. Version 2.0 is an upgrade of the Actiflex found on Cento10 NDR, a bike that won the Eurobike Award in 2017 and the Reader's Award from the prestigious Tour Magazin magazine in 2018.
If on the vertical plane Actiflex 2.0 makes the Granturismo SLR soft and comfortable, torsional rigidity and reactivity are guaranteed with values very close to those of Casa Wilier competition bikes thanks to the rider present on the rear bases and the new positioning of Actiflex near the seat tube/top tube intersection.
When redesigning Actiflex, one of the main objectives was to seek maximum integration into the frame, not only as an aesthetic factor but also as a functional factor. In the new position, Actiflex is protected from dirt, mud, sand and rain, an ideal solution to allow the four bearings to operate smoothly and without having to think about future maintenance. If necessary, disassembly of the Actiflex 2.0 is facilitated by the double screw locking system.
The rear wheel travel is adjusted by a viscoelastic elastomer. On models equipped with Dura Ace Di2 12V, Super Record EPS and Sram Red AXS, the elastomer is replaced by a 3D-printed adaptive lattice version, a solution that saves an additional 20 grams on the overall frame weight.
COMFORT RACING GEOMETRIES
Frame geometry plays a key role when talking about endurance bikes. To ensure the highest level of ride and comfort, we need to consider different proportions between the frame tubes. We have a slightly shorter stance (reach is smaller compared to bikes with traditional racing geometries) and a taller stance (a taller stack compared to racing geometries).
This combination of reach and stack allows us to have a comfortable position while not using
any spacer between the rod and the frame. How often do we see cyclists riding only racing bikes with several inches of headset spacers? With Granturismo SLR, the look of the motorcycle will be harmonious, proportionate, balanced and at the same time racing.
HIGH-END CARBON
The Granturismo SLR's carbon blend is HUS-MOD integrated with liquid crystal polymer, the special fiber used between the carbon links that adds elasticity in the vertical plane while increasing torsional rigidity. This solution is also widely used on high-end products such as Filante SLR and Wilier 0 SLR.
AERODYNAMICS EVEN IN THE WORLD OF ENDURANCE
When we talk about long distances, we're talking about many hours spent in the saddle. Although with Granturismo SLR we are not looking for maximum performance for competitions, it is clear that even in such a bike aerodynamics is important.
Even a small adjustment and improvement, despite saving many hours in the saddle, can save you several watts. To do this, we borrowed several features derived from the Filante SLR (our aerodynamic bike for competition). In addition to the optimized tube section, we have taken into account the very wide fork head, the use of an integrated monocoque handlebar and the total integration of the cables.
WHEEL PASSAGE
Having a wide fork head not only benefits aerodynamics, but also provides generous wheel clearance. Granturismo SLR allows the installation of wheels with tires up to 32 mm wide, a perfect value for this modern bike with endurance DNA.
CARBON MONOCOQUE HANDLEBAR
Granturismo SLR uses the monocoque handlebar that we regularly mount on the flagship hillclimb bike, the Wilier 0 SLR. 0 has an ergonomic and rounded handle, less demanding than the corresponding Filante aero bar and adapts perfectly to the frame thanks to the shims, which are the same as those used on Filante SLR.
As a reminder, the 0 Bar monocoque handlebar allows the brake and control cables to be housed and routed inside the frame, hiding them from air friction and giving the Granturismo SLR a clean and essential design, typical of Wilier Triestina's high-end products. It is worth mentioning that Granturismo SLR is still compatible with all monocoque and modular handlebars produced by Wilier Triestina.
REMOVABLE DERAILLEUR HOLDER
The derailleur hanger is removable, like on Rave SLR. In our vision, in the not too distant future, we are convinced that the use of monobloc groupsets will become increasingly widespread, even on road products not used in competition. In the case of a 1x groupset, the derailleur hanger is replaced by a flat plate to maintain the clean look even without the front derailleur.
