In 1988, SILCA noticed the growing mountain bike market in the United States and began developing a high-volume pump with a low-pressure gauge to meet the needs of this completely new category of bicycles.
Named Terra, it was the first specific high volume, low pressure pump for larger volume tires. Now, 34 years later, SILCA is reintroducing the Terra concept with new and exciting technology that allows it not only to be the world's most refined low-pressure pump, but also to maintain high-pressure capabilities.
Utilizing a revolutionary new non-linear gauge scale technology, the Terra pump utilizes custom gauge internals to create a gauge that allows for 0.5 psi accuracy at the low end of the range climbing to 2 psi accuracy at the high end of the range (120 psi). This unique design allows for a gauge with an overall capacity of 120 psi, but 50% of the gauge face contains 0-30 psi (0-2.1 bar).
Terra retains SILCA's renowned all-metal construction with a lathe-turned ash wood handle, but breaks the traditional SILCA mold with a single-lever chuck based on SILCA's award-winning Tattico mini pump chuck design. This all-metal chuck uses a reversible threaded tip to switch between Presta and Schrader and contains an in-line pressure bleed button.
